I just want to share a simple way to tie the body coat of your shih tzu. This is very helpful in preventing the coat of your shih tzu from getting wet (especially for female shih tzu) while urinating. This can also help lessen coat breakage just like when you make a maintenance topknot.

But there’s one that I am looking forward for pet shops in the Philippines to have one of these days. Something like the Kroger gift cards. This online gift card can be given to friends or relatives located far away from the giver. You will simply have to buy the gift card online and let your friends or relative redeem and enjoy your gift.

Aramis Lim Cup March 2012 Dog Show

Aramis Lim Cup All Breeds Show has been held last March 17 to 18 at PCCI Activity Center, Marikina. The invited judges were Mr. Frederick Dewsbury from Canada and Iris Glynn from Australia.

Shih Tzu Fancier Club Feb 2012 Show

A Shih Tzu specialty show was held in PCCI Activity Center, Marikina last 21 February 2012. Judges were Mr. Imran Husain from Pakistan and Mr. D Kkrishnamurthy from India. I wasn’t able to take lots of picture during the show because I left my camera at home. I used a point and shoot camera so I cannot take a closer image of all the shih tzu inside the ring. These are the only shots I got as close as possible.

Top 10 Most Popular Dog in the Philippines for 2011

The Shih Tzu, Chihuahua, and Pomeranian are the three most popular dog breeds in the country, according to the Philippine Canine Club Inc. (PCCI), which announced the top 10 dog breed rankings for 2011 based on its annual registration statistics.

The PCCI rankings show that small dogs prove to be a hit with Filipinos. The Shih Tzu, also known as the Tibetan temple dog, has been on the top of the list since 2008. Every year, owners of this adorable breed have increased, from over 14,000 in 2008 to more than 24,000 in 2011.

Filipinos also took a liking to the intelligent and lovable sled dog, Siberian Husky. Its high-energy, friendly, and non-aggressive temperament make it a Pinoy favorite. PCCI records show that the breed ranked 4th in 2011, a sharp increase from 14th place in 2008. Other large breeds that have gained popularity include the Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd.

The Beagle, associated with the popular comic strip character Snoopy, is in 5th place – a big leap from the 13th spot in 2008.

Registration for purebred dogs has steadily increased, indicating the Filipinos’ passion for owning and taking care of a purebred dog. “We’re delighted that Filipinos are now more keen on caring for purebred dogs,” said PCCI president Augusto Benedicto Santos III. “Apart from preserving the line of the breed, owners can develop a working knowledge on what to expect with their dogs in terms of temperament and behavior, allowing them to easily train the dog and create a wonderful relationship with them.”

On February 24 – 26, 2012, PCCI will showcase the best purebred dogs in the country and in Asia-Pacific region at the 2012 Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) Asia and Pacific Section Show at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex.

The international dog show is held every year in different locations in Asia Pacific, and will bring together expert judges from all over the world, including Finland, Columbia, Slovenia, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and Taiwan.

About the Philippine Canine Club, Inc.

The Philippine Canine Club, Inc. was organized on March 21, 1963, as a non-stock, non-profit service-oriented corporation for the purpose of promoting and encouraging the love for purebred dogs. The Club’s charter extends until year 2038 and authorizes PCCI to maintain a registry of purebred dogs or stud books and to conduct dog shows and competitions.

PCCI maintains a registry of regular and associate members, and of litters and kennel names. PCCI also issues registration certificates and certified pedigree certificates of dogs, and confers championship titles, obedience and field trial titles to qualified dogs. PCCI issues dog show judging licenses to qualified members for individual breeds, groups of breeds and all breeds of purebred dogs.
