Ticks are parasites that attach themselves to dogs and feed on their blood thereby transmitting diseases directly into their system. Your dog can get infected with these dangerous tick-transmitted diseases like erlichiosis and lyme disease. So prevention of tick and flea infestation before it begins is very important.
One product that I find very effective in preventing tick and flea infestation is Frontline. You can use Frontline Spray if your shih tzu is cut down. But if your shih tzu has a long coat, I recommend you use the Frontline Plus.
All FRONTLINE products are safe to use on breeding, pregnant and nursing queens and bitches. It is also safe to treat puppies and kittens with FRONTLINE SPRAY from 2 days of age. Puppies and kittens can be treated with FRONTLINE PLUS from 8 weeks of age.
But how do you apply Frontline Plus? This is the question I often get from people who are not yet familiar with Frontline products. So here is a step by step guide that can show you how to apply Frontline Plus correctly (you can click on the images):
Here are some additional tips:
- Remove the pet’s collar
- Apply as a spot between your pet’s shoulder blades in 1 area that can’t be licked
- Avoid touching the wet application spot
- Wait 24 hours to allow solution to dry before bathing or letting your pet swim
- Give each of your pets its own complete dose
- Reapply Frontline every 30 days.
